In der neuen siebenteiligen Doku-Reihe „NOLA: Life, Death and Heavy Blues from the Bayou“ geht Noisey dem Einfluss von Bands aus New Orleans wie DOWN, Eyehategod, Crowbar u.a. auf den Metal-Sound der 90er Jahre nach. Während Metal zu der Zeit hauptsächlich von Thrash dominiert wurde, prägten die Bands aus New Orleans eine deutlich langsamere, aber unmso wuchtigere Spielart.
Die erste Episode ist nun online. Im Mittelpunkt steht Phil Anselmo, der von New Orleans nach Dallas zog, um sich Pantera anzuschließen und so den Sound aus Louisiana weiter trug. Außerdem erfahren wir, warum die Melvins damals enormen Einfluss auf die Bands aus New Orleans hatten.
