For the first time ever, DJ Jazzy Jeff and Questlove teamed up for a very special performance at this years The Roots Picnic. I“™m a fan of what Travis Barker has done with DJ AM (RIP) and A-Trak, so I was definitely curious to see what Jeff and Quest had cooked up. While Travis Barker“™s projects are focused more on the party vibe, I feel Questlove and Jazzy Jeff were making a point to not only entertain, but to educate“¦ and the outcome was phenomenal. They played everything- Jay-Z, A Tribe Called Quest, Pete Rock, The Pharcyde, Biggie, Kanye, Common, etc. and often played the original sample leading into the hip hop classic. Skillz served as hypeman for the occaison and did a great job getting the crowd involved without becoming overbearing. This is one rare gem you wont want to miss.
