Nach der Veröffentlichung von zwei EPs in Eigenregie hat das deutsch-holländische Indie-Pop-Duo The Day eine neue Heimat beim Berliner Label Sinnbus gefunden. Anfang März ist ihre aktuelle Single „Grow“ erschienen, zu der es jetzt auch ein Video gibt, das wir euch hier vorstellen dürfen. Laura Loeters und Gregor Sonnenberg lernten sich an der ArtEZ School of Music in Arnhem kennen und arbeiten seither an ihrer eigenen Version zurückgenommener, melancholischer Popmusik. Im April sind die beiden zudem auf Tour. Hört doch mal rein!

Welche Idee hinter dem Video steckt, haben uns The Day ebenfalls verraten:
Laura: With this video we tried to get sort of in the direction of a short film. We try to tell a quite abstract story about three people of three generations. I say abstract because we really like secrets and don“™t want the viewer to only get out „this one meaning“ we put in on the other side but more to let the viewer create the connection between the characters himself in his own mind and connect to the story in a more subliminal way.
Gregor: The main inspiration for the video was the film „Hana-Bi“ by Takeshi Kitano. I don“™t want to say more about it, but if you watch the movie you will understand right away. For some reason Laura and me and also lots of friends of ours are quite fascinated of some Asian art. I think it is because it makes you feel as a stranger and at home at the same time in a very mysterious way. From there we started to write little scenes in a very open form and came up with the characters. We shot the video in two days together with the great Martijn Bastiaans on camera who already shot the music video for our song „Golden Arms“ in the summer of 2016. „
