The Get Down spielt in der South Bronx im New York der 70er Jahre. Drehbuch und Regie kommen von Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge, Der große Gatsby). Unter anderem ist Giancarlo Esposito, bekannt als Gustavo Fring aus Breaking Bad, als Schauspieler mit am Start.
The Get Down focuses on 1970s New York City – broken down and beaten up, violent, cash strapped — dying.
